About The Position

The Department of Environmental Protection's Human Resources Office is seeking a candidate with excellent analytical and communication skills to participate in a paid, 12-month, on-the-job training program as an Administration and Management Trainee. This program is designed for individuals looking to start a career in human resources and will focus on employee relations and workforce support. Upon successful completion of the training year, the trainee will be promoted to Human Resource Analyst 1. This role supports employee relations, performance management, and general administrative functions within the agency, playing a key part in maintaining accurate processes and effective communication across staff.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree, including 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field; or An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes 15 credits in public administration, business administration, or a closely related field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
  • Must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Review Code of Conduct notifications and investigate reported concerns
  • Manage OnBase requests and maintain records for compensatory time approval processes
  • Support supervisors by preparing and reviewing performance standards, improvement plans, interim evaluation reports, and annual performance evaluation reports
  • Maintain confidential systems related to ADA accommodations and employee records
  • Handle inquiries by phone, email, and mail while directing requests appropriately
  • Assist with correspondence processing, mailings, and special projects
