About The Position

The Indiana Office of Administrative Law Proceedings (OALP) is a state agency that provides a central, independent hearings process for administrative cases involving Indiana state agencies. Its mission is to provide efficient, effective, and impartial adjudicatory processes for Indiana’s citizens and agencies. OALP hears disputes between certain state agencies and people aggrieved by agency actions, including cases involving agencies such as the Family and Social Services Administration, the Department of Child Services, and the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. The Administrative Law Judge presides over a high volume of administrative cases, typically involving routine legal issues and one or two straightforward factual disputes. Most matters can be resolved in a single evidentiary hearing or by a routine order. This remote position is open to candidates residing in Indiana. The salary traditionally starts at $75,010 and may be commensurate with education and work experience. The position requires consistent attention to case management and flexibility as caseloads change. The role is exempt from overtime compensation; additional work hours may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours per pay period without additional compensation and must report at least 75 hours per pay period of work and/or paid leave to receive their base biweekly salary. The role may serve as a team lead for an assigned work group.
