About The Position

The goal of this position is to help students learn the design and Capstone processes and successfully complete their assigned projects in conjunction with other Capstone instructors. This role involves reviewing and approving project scopes, providing advice on instructing Capstone students on software and cyber projects, adapting existing lecture materials, and participating in weekly Capstone Council meetings. The instructor will prepare and present Capstone lectures, participate in weekly team meetings and Capstone faculty coach meetings, and lead a pod of 6-14 Capstone teams working on cyber and/or software focused projects. Responsibilities also include mentoring assigned Capstone coaches, mentoring and coaching individual teams and students within the pod, and being available to provide advice to other Capstone teams. The role requires guiding teams in selecting and applying appropriate project structures, workflows, and processes, learning and sharing Capstone policies, and establishing and maintaining excellent working relationships with project sponsors. The instructor will help teams maintain realistic project scope, timelines, and deliverables, assist students in understanding how general course requirements apply to their projects, and help students learn important professional soft skills and teamwork.

Requirements

  • BS degree in engineering, cybersecurity, physics, computer science, or related field required.
  • The required degree must be completed by the start date.
  • Demonstrated experience teaching in the field.
  • Interest and passion in the design education process is required.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.
  • All new employees who are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be required to hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend.
  • All employees are required to abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Responsibilities
