About The Position

This position involves instructing students in modern dance at Brigham Young University (BYU). Responsibilities include teaching contemporary modern dance techniques, potentially at various levels from beginning to advanced, and/or creative process courses. The role requires maintaining office hours proportional to the teaching load, attending faculty meetings, and instructing multiple classes weekly. The successful candidate must be willing to relocate to and reside in Utah for the duration of their employment. Requirements

  • BA or BFA required.
  • Must have completed the required degree by the start date.
  • Successful candidate must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of their employment.
  • Must abide by the university's Honor Code and Dress & Grooming Standards.
  • Successful candidates are expected to support and contribute to the academic and religious missions of the university within the context of the principles and doctrines of the affiliated church.

Nice To Haves

  • MFA in Dance preferred.
  • Two years of teaching in a studio, college, or university setting is preferred.
  • Preference is given to qualified candidates who are members in good standing of the affiliated church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Responsibilities

  • Instruction in contemporary modern dance, which could include beginning to advanced levels of technique, and/or creative process courses.
  • Maintain office hours commensurate with teaching load.
  • Attend faculty meetings as called.
  • Instruct multiple classes per week.
