About The Position

The Ballard Center for Social Impact in the BYU Marriott School of Business aims to develop the faith and skills to solve social problems through mentored student leadership. The center empowers students to address pressing social problems by leveraging their diverse skills and insights through research, education, and practical experience. This adjunct teaching position will involve designing and delivering engaging course content for GCI 443, which examines how corporations engage in social impact through strategy, operations, and culture. The course integrates theory with practical application, and the adjunct will be responsible for developing and assessing student assignments, providing feedback, and maintaining communication with students and leadership. The role also includes assisting in student recruitment and submitting final grades.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in business management, business ethics, or a related field (Must have required degree by start date).
  • Professional experience in corporate social impact, CSR, ESG, or related areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach or mentor students effectively.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Must relocate and/or reside in Utah for the duration of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Significant leadership experience in corporate social impact or sustainability roles.
  • Prior university teaching experience.
  • Experience working across sectors (corporate, nonprofit, government).
  • Familiarity with impact measurement and evaluation frameworks.
  • Experience with pedagogical development.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver engaging course content for GCI 443 aligned with Ballard Center learning objectives.
  • Examine how corporations engage in social impact through strategy, operations, and culture.
  • Facilitate class sessions that integrate theory with practical application.
  • Develop and assess student assignments, including projects and presentations.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain regular communication with students and Ballard Center leadership.
  • Develop and/or assimilate content and frameworks that usefully analyze and compare a variety of impact approaches that address the evolving nature of corporate impact.
  • Ensure that the content and learning outcomes of the course are aligned with, and not duplicative of, ethics and corporate impact strategies taught elsewhere in the Marriott School.
  • Assist in recruiting students to the course and articulating the suite of offerings to students and other audiences.
  • Submit final grades in accordance with university policies.
