About The Position

Under general supervision from the Department Chair, the Adjunct Professor will teach courses as assigned, perform the functions of a clinical supervisor and will be responsible for supervision of students’ skills performance, student evaluation, and other aspects of student learning in the class, clinical, or simulation lab setting. The Adjunct may also be assigned distance education courses that align with required Allied Health Professions skills and knowledge.

Requirements

Be effective in teaching and knowledgeable in subject matter as documented by appropriate professional credential(s)/certification(s), education, and experience in the designated content area.
Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency (CAAHEP or ABHES).
Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA).
Have a minimum total of two years of experience, either in the operating room scrub role or as an instructor in surgical technology, or a combination of both, within the past five years.
Possess teaching and facilitation skills.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to teach and control the behavior of students.
Valid Driver License.

Nice To Haves

Possess a Bachelor’s degree with concentration in Health Sciences or Biology.
Prior experience in distance education and eLearning.

Responsibilities

Evaluate and grade students' assignments and activities as appropriate to the discipline in a timely manner.
Administer, compile, and grade examinations as assigned.
Be responsible for the continuous review, planning, development, and general effectiveness of program and courses
Develop and teach assigned classes in keeping with syllabi, outlines, and instructional materials.
Cultivate healthy teacher-student relationships.
Engage students in active learning, ensuring frequent formative feedback is provided in all formats to include face to face courses and distance education courses.
Supervise and evaluate student performance in simulated and clinical environments.
