About The Position

Grand Canyon University has an opening for Adjunct Clinical Nursing faculty members. This PRN adjunct position requires travel within the St. Louis, Missouri area to directly observe student performance when scheduled for clinical rotations. The role involves reinforcing didactic content, teaching knowledge and skills for pre-licensure nursing, and collaborating with faculty to evaluate student progress. Faculty will also participate in grading, stay current with nursing trends, maintain accreditation compliance, and uphold the tenets of nursing and the university's pillars. A key aspect is traveling to student sites to observe performance and supporting the university program in all areas, aligning with its philosophy and mission.

Requirements

• BSN required.
• BSNs will be required to enroll in a GCU MSN Leadership or MSN Education program, immediately upon hire, paid for by GCU OR BSN with proof of at least 9 credits/3 classes in any graduate program OR approved national certification related to the content area being taught.
• 5 years recent RN clinical experience with 3 years recent direct Psych patient care nursing experience with a BSN
• BSN applicants must have documented completion of the Clinical Faculty Academy (CFA) through the Missouri Hospital Association at the time of application.
• An active, current, unencumbered, and multi-state (compact) RN license
• Must successfully pass a drug test and competency testing
• Excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with students

Nice To Haves

• MSN preferred and 2 years recent direct Psych patient care nursing experience.
• CFA NOT required for anyone with a conferred Master's in any field.

Responsibilities

• Reinforce didactic content, teaching the knowledge and skills needed for pre-licensure nursing
• Collaborate with content area faculty to provide expert evaluation and documentation of student progress toward clinical objectives
• Participate in grading written and clinical performance check-offs
• Remain current with new trends and development in the specific field of nursing practice
• Maintain compliance with requirements for program accreditation
• Uphold the tenets of nursing as a holistic profession as well as the pillars of the University
• Travel to GCU student sites, directly observing student performance
• Participate in and/or support of the university program in all areas including an evident congruence with the philosophy and direction of the institution, and service to the community
• Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University
