About The Position

Grand Canyon University has an opening for Adjunct Clinical and Lab Nursing faculty members. This PRN adjunct position requires travel within the St. Louis, Missouri area to directly observe student performance, when scheduled for clinical rotations and labs. The role involves reinforcing didactic content, teaching the knowledge and skills needed for pre-licensure nursing, and collaborating with content area faculty to provide expert evaluation and documentation of student progress toward clinical objectives. Participants will also engage in grading written and clinical performance check-offs, remaining current with new trends and developments in nursing practice, and maintaining compliance with program accreditation requirements. Upholding the tenets of nursing as a holistic profession and the pillars of the University, faculty will travel to GCU student sites to observe student performance and support the university program in all areas. This includes demonstrating congruence with the philosophy and direction of the institution, serving the community, and providing a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission.

Requirements

  • BSN required.
  • BSNs will be required to enroll in a GCU MSN Leadership or MSN Education program, immediately upon hire, paid for by GCU OR BSN with proof of at least 9 credits/3 classes in any graduate program OR approved national certification related to the content area being taught.
  • 5 years' recent RN clinical experience with 3 years of recent direct patient care nursing experience with a BSN
  • BSN applicants must have documented completion of the Clinical Faculty Academy (CFA) through the Missouri Hospital Association at the time of application.
  • An active, current, unencumbered, and multi-state (compact) RN license
  • Must successfully pass a drug test and competency testing
  • Excellent communication skills, and the ability to build positive relationships with students

Nice To Haves

  • MSN preferred and 2 years' recent direct patient care nursing experience.
  • CFA NOT required for anyone with a conferred Master's in any field.
