About The Position

Pacific Northwest University of Health Sciences (PNWU) is seeking an adjunct professor to teach assigned lectures as needed in the Master of Biomedical Sciences (MBS) curriculum. Content areas may include public health, community health, healthcare systems, equity in healthcare, patient-provider communication, interprofessional practice and education (IPE), epidemiology, biomedical ethics, healthcare communication, standardized test taking and assessment, research methods, research ethics, and human subjects communication. The university, founded in 2005, is a 501(c)(3) non-profit medical institution focused on increasing healthcare access in underserved areas of the Pacific Northwest. PNWU offers several health science degrees and enrolls over 550 students annually, with a campus of 300 employees across a five-state region. The position is located in Yakima, WA.

Requirements

  • A Doctorate Degree or All but Dissertation (ABD), as recognized by United States accrediting associations, or appropriate terminal degree (i.e., standards established by recognized United States accrediting associations).
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire and for the duration of their employment with PNWU.
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, and planning skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances.
  • Ability to problem solve by analyzing issues and creating action plans.
  • Ability to manage projects and people and prioritize and self-direct work flow.
  • Ability to work with and manage different computer programs and databases.
  • Ability to schedule activities and/or meetings.

Nice To Haves

  • Three (3) years of clinical experience; and/or two (2) years of professional academic experience as appropriate.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the assigned lectures and any others as assigned.
  • Meet all classes as scheduled.
  • Assist in clinical education and training as appropriate.
  • Report final grades at the designated time.
  • Advise students.
  • Attend student orientation and commencement exercises.
  • Have an appropriate number of office hours.
  • Write course syllabi.
  • Develop course materials.
  • Administer exams.
  • Perform committee assignments.
  • Engage in scholarly activity.
  • Maintain professional development.
  • Perform community service.
  • Maintain licensure and certification as appropriate.
  • May be required to maintain clinical practice as appropriate.
  • Understands accreditation standards and expectations specific to the department and adheres to policies and procedures to meet or exceed such standards.
  • Conducts self appropriately and consistently in accordance with the philosophy and mission of PNWU.
  • Other duties as assigned.
