About The Position

Fresno Pacific University, a faith-based Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI), is seeking adjunct faculty for its Social Work Department. The department prepares students to address complex social issues with a strong foundation in generalist and advanced generalist social work practice. Adjunct faculty will teach a diverse range of courses across generalist and advanced generalist social work education, including hybrid, blended eight-week evening courses for the MSW program, and evening and daytime classes for Degree Completion/Adult Learners (DC) and Traditional Undergraduate (TUG) programs. Responsibilities include inspiring and mentoring students, teaching practice-based and content-focused courses, participating in departmental faculty meetings and professional development sessions to ensure compliance with accreditation standards, and contributing to a collaborative academic community. New adjunct faculty typically begin with the BSW program, with potential to teach in the MSW program based on departmental needs. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to a faith-centered, student-focused environment that values academic excellence and community impact.

Requirements

  • M.S.W. or Ph.D. in a related field of study; M.A. in a related field of study may be considered based on departmental needs
  • Experience in working with client groups in the community at all system levels of social work practice (micro, mezzo, & macro)
  • At minimum two years of post-graduate practice in the field or documented expertise in an area of study; based on departmental needs
  • Ability to work with students, staff, and faculty in a collegial environment
  • Commitment to the Christian faith and the University’s mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning and involvement in a local church.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses as described and assigned in the undergraduate Bachelor of Social Welfare, Bachelor of Social Work, and Master of Social Work program
  • Discuss class progress with the program director, including teaching performance through observation
  • Collaborate with other faculty as needed
  • Potential to supervise undergraduate and graduate students' field internships as assigned by program directors and/or field director(s)
  • Academic and professional mentoring in the classroom; maintain office hours for student support
  • Attendance at graduation ceremonies, university convocations and events, and other departmental events are encouraged

  • Compensation is based on highest completed degree level: Non-Terminal degree: Anticipated pay per unit $811.51, $23.97 per hour
