About The Position

This is a Part-Time Faculty Pool for available assignments during the academic year. The role involves teaching and supervising students in Polysomnography, utilizing approved curriculum and effective teaching methods. Responsibilities include assessing student performance, providing feedback, advising students, supporting recruitment and retention, participating in curriculum development, and maintaining professional relationships. The position also requires adherence to Alvin College policies and procedures, participation in professional development, and completion of required reports and institutional responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree or higher in Polysomnography from a regionally accredited college / university
  • Three (3) years of non-teaching (industry) work experience in Polysomnography
  • Current Registered Polysomnography Technologist (RPSGT) from the Board of Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT)
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, as well as intermediate computer skills.
  • Must be familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.
  • Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system.
  • Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of teaching experience at the college or university level
  • Must be familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish

Responsibilities

  • Teach and supervise students using approved curriculum, syllabi, assessments, and instructional standards.
  • Utilize effective teaching methods, technology, and educational resources to support student learning.
  • Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate instructional records.
  • Advise and support students regarding academic progress and connect them with appropriate College resources.
  • Support student recruitment, retention, engagement, and overall success.
  • Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and the community.
  • Complete required reports, forms, meetings, and institutional responsibilities in a timely manner.
  • Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of effective instructional practices.
  • Adhere to Alvin College policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.
