About The Position

The University of Olivet seeks in-person, part-time Adjunct Instructors in Nursing for the Fall 2026 semester and beyond, particularly candidates with experience in clinical practice, Skills Lab, or Sim Lab. Assignments are generally scheduled Tuesdays and Wednesdays, usually between 0630 and 1900, at various facilities or in labs and simulation labs on the Olivet campus. Teaching assignments vary by semester, with most classes meeting once each week for 12 weeks.

The Nursing program uses a clinically integrated model emphasizing hands-on skill development, evidence-based practice, and professional formation. Instruction takes place in clinical practice settings, nursing simulation labs, and skills laboratory environments, in small, relationship-focused cohorts. The program addresses health across the lifespan and diverse patient populations, and emphasizes ethical responsibility, professional character, and purposeful, patient-centered care.

Adjunct instructors evaluate student performance and deliver instruction in clinical, skills laboratory, and/or simulation settings. Candidates should be open to innovation and collaboration, embrace the university’s relationship-based approach to pedagogy, and support its commitment to inclusivity. The anticipated start date is January 1, 2027. Employment is contingent upon official transcripts, a background check, and verification of submitted information.

Requirements

• Earned Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and assess student performance in clinical locations, skills laboratories, and/or simulation settings using established competency checklists and clinical evaluation tools.
• Prepare and deliver instructional materials, including lab guides, simulation scenarios, skills demonstration instructions, and clinical objectives, in person and through the Online Learning Management System.
• Facilitate, guide, and debrief students during clinical experiences, skills practice sessions, and/or simulation scenarios to promote critical thinking and clinical reasoning.
• Compile, administer, and grade clinical performance assessments, skills checkoffs, and simulation debriefs.
• Participate in required reporting processes, including clinical attendance, competency completion, academic concern reports, and grade submission.
