About The Position

Oakland Community College (OCC) is seeking Adjunct Faculty Instructors for Medical Assisting courses. OCC is a large, student-centered community college in Oakland County, Michigan, dedicated to providing quality learning opportunities. Adjunct instructors are hired on an as-needed basis throughout the academic year, depending on enrollment. Candidates must value diversity, shared responsibility, open communication, personal empowerment, integrity, and ethical commitment. A commitment to using modern technology in the classroom is required. Applications are accepted continuously and entered into a candidate pool. Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a healthcare field and one (1) year experience including some combination of clinical, administrative, and/or teaching experience OR Associate degree in Medical Assisting or related field and three (3) years’ experience including some combination of clinical, administrative, and/or teaching experience.
• AAMA (American Association of Medical Assistants) credentialing as a Certified Medical Assistant or credentialing in a healthcare related field, including but not limited to, Medical Insurance Billing and Coding, Phlebotomy, and/or Medical Office Administration.
• Commitment to using modern technology in the classroom.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with multi-cultural students and staff preferred.
• Ability to work as a team player in a multi-cultural working environment.
• Online teaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach anticipated day and/or evening Medical Assisting courses, ranging from basic to advanced skill levels.
• Maintain and/or provide licensure and certifications where applicable.
