About The Position

Regis College is seeking a highly qualified, energetic adjunct faculty member to teach Environmental Public Health, a course that introduces undergraduate students to the relationships between environmental factors and human health. This includes preparing and delivering lectures, leading discussions, and assessing student performance through assignments and exams. The course includes topics such as air and water quality, toxicology, epidemiology, environmental policy, and sustainability. PBH 300 – Environmental Health is a class designed for undergraduates who are majors in public health or any other student with an interest in the topic. Class may be remote asynchronous, hybrid or in-person.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Environmental Public Health, Public Health (MPH), Environmental Health Sciences, or a closely related field
  • Academic or professional background in topics such as environmental exposures, epidemiology, toxicology, or environmental policy
  • Ability to teach undergraduate-level coursework effectively
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to engage diverse undergraduate learners in multiple instructional formats (asynchronous and in-person)
  • Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines (grading, course management, reporting)
  • Commitment to inclusive teaching and student success
  • Ability to incorporate current research, data, and real-world applications into teaching

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree (PhD, DrPH, or related) in Environmental Public Health or a related discipline
  • Prior teaching experience at the college or university level (in-person and/or online)
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems and online course delivery
  • Professional or applied experience in environmental or public health practice (e.g., government, nonprofit, consulting)

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging instruction in Environmental Public Health across in-person and/or asynchronous online formats
  • Facilitate discussions, activities, and applied learning exercises (e.g., case studies, data analysis)
  • Develop and/or update syllabi
  • Update lectures, readings, assignments, and assessments on topics such as environmental exposures, epidemiology, and public health policy
  • Ensure course materials reflect current science, regulations, and best practices
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive learning environment
  • Communicate regularly with students via email, LMS, or in-class interactions
  • Hold office hours (virtual and/or in-person) to support student learning
  • Design and grade assignments, quizzes, exams, and projects in a timely manner
  • Provide clear, constructive feedback to support student progress
  • Monitor student performance and identify those needing additional support
  • Manage course content, due dates, announcements, grades, and communications within the Regis College LMS system (e.g., Moodle)
  • Ensure asynchronous courses are well-organized, accessible, and easy to navigate
  • Adhere to institutional policies, academic integrity standards, and accreditation requirements
  • Submit grades and required reports by established deadlines
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance and performance
  • Stay current in Environmental Public Health topics and teaching best practices
  • Meet with program director as needed
  • Collaborate with program director on curriculum alignment and improvements
