About The Position

The School of Life Sciences and Sustainability (SLSS) in the College of Humanities and Sciences at Virginia Commonwealth University is recruiting a pool of applicants for the Summer 2026 semester and beyond for possible adjunct teaching positions. The School of Life Sciences and Sustainability houses programs in Biology, Environmental Studies, Bioinformatics, Sustainable Innovation, Outdoor Leadership, and Integrative Life Sciences. The School of Life Sciences and Sustainability (SLSS) seeks qualified instructors to contribute teaching across these topics. Applicants admitted to the adjunct pool will be contacted if their credentials align with our teaching needs in a given semester. This pool will be accessed only when an opening arises. Your credentials will remain active for one year from the date of this posting. After that time, if you are still interested in adjunct teaching, you must reapply. Please note that we are unable to hire applicants who are not already in the pool.

Requirements

• Master’s degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Biology, Environmental Science/Studies, Sustainability, Data Science, Bioinformatics, or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution of higher education.
• Submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae/resume, and the names, addresses, telephone numbers and e-mail addresses of three references through VCU jobs.
• Agree to current and prior employers being contacted, if they are among a small group of finalists.
