Adjunct Instructor (Music, Dance or Theatre)

Texas A&M University System•Prairie View, TX

About The Position

The Department of Music, Theatre and Dance at Prairie View A&M University is establishing a pool of qualified applicants for potential adjunct instructor positions in music, dance, or theatre. These are non-tenure-track, part-time appointments involving teaching courses in the assigned discipline. Positions are temporary, assigned by semester, and filled on an as-needed basis as curricular and student needs arise. Selected applicants may teach up to 7 undergraduate or graduate semester credit hours in an assigned semester, less than 50% FTE, depending on student demand. String instrumentalists, choreographers, and specialists in music education, music technology, and theatrical technical work are welcome to apply. Work may be in person, remote, or hybrid, as applicable. Compensation is on a per-course basis and is commensurate with factors including academic discipline, faculty credentials, experience, and education. Undergraduate faculty must have a doctorate or master’s degree in the teaching discipline, or a master’s degree with a concentration in the teaching discipline and at least 18 graduate semester credit hours in that discipline. Faculty teaching graduate or post-baccalaureate coursework must have an earned doctorate or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline. This is a general-purpose faculty pool used across multiple disciplines. Applicants may not be selected for the current academic year. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis, and candidates may be contacted as vacancies become available. The pool closes at the end of the current academic year, and a new application is required for consideration in each academic year. Applicants must submit a resume or curriculum vitae, cover letter, and graduate degree transcripts; official transcripts are required upon selection as a finalist. Licenses or certifications are required only if specified by the hiring department, and other documents are optional. Employment is contingent on credential verification and a criminal history check.
