About The Position

The Kenneth F. Kahn School of Law at High point University Schol of Law is seeking applications from experienced lawyers, judges, and legal professionals to join our pool of adjunct faculty. Adjunct Instructor teach specialized, upper-level doctrinal courses or experiential, skills-based courses. We are looking for practitioners with deep subject matter expertise who are committed to preparing the next generation of attorneys by providing practical, real-world insights. The selected candidate will work in a highly collaborative environment that fosters critical analysis, reasoned argument, and the free exchange of ideas and equips students with the doctrinal knowledge, practical skills, and professional values needed for success in a rapidly evolving legal profession. Candidates should possess an entrepreneurial spirit and be well-suited to work in a collegial and student-oriented culture.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • A minimum of [3-5] years of active, high-level practice experience in the relevant field of law.
  • Active, good-standing membership in at least one State Bar.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and student mentorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior teaching experience at a law school or graduate level.
  • Record of scholarly publications or presentations in the specialized field.
  • Experience in clinical legal education or skill-based instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver a rigorous, engaging course syllabus that meets academic standards and complies with the school’s learning outcomes.
  • Conduct in-person or online classes, facilitating discussions, lectures, and interactive simulations.
  • Create and grade exams, papers, or practical simulations (e.g., mock trials, contract drafting exercises). Provide timely and constructive feedback to students regarding their performance.
  • Maintain regular "office hours" (in-person or virtual) to advise students on course materials and career paths.
  • Utilize the institution's Learning Management System (Blackboard) for posting syllabi, assignments, and grades.
  • Collaborate with full-time faculty to ensure curriculum alignment; attend mandatory adjunct orientation/meetings; adhere to all university, ABA, and FERPA policies.
