About The Position

This position is for an Adjunct Instructor in the Center for Assistive Rehabilitative Technology (CART) program, located at the Hiram G. Andrews Center in Johnstown, PA. The role is in affiliation with the Department of Counseling and Behavioral Health, School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences, at the University of Pittsburgh. The instructor will provide hands-on, clinical work to meet the complex counseling and cognitive rehabilitation needs of a specialized client population. This includes conducting assistive technology and occupational therapy evaluations, developing intervention plans, and coordinating services. The position requires collaboration with the CART Program Manager, multidisciplinary staff, vocational rehabilitation professionals, and external partners, while exercising professional judgment in client care, particularly for individuals with cognitive and other disabilities. Other duties as assigned are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Therapy or related field.
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist (OTR/L).
  • Minimum of 10 years of professional clinical experience.
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities and assistive technology services.
  • Experience working with vocational rehabilitation programs or the Pennsylvania Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.
  • Be available to work 5-10 hours/week as needed.
  • Have a valid Driver's license and able to travel throughout the state of PA.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Center for Assistive Rehabilitative Technology (CART) program through hands-on, clinical work to meet complex counseling and cognitive rehabilitation needs of a specialized client population.
  • Conduct assistive technology and occupational therapy evaluations and develop individualized intervention plans.
  • Coordinate assistive technology services and collaborate with multidisciplinary staff, vocational rehabilitation professionals, and external partners.
  • Use professional judgement and discretion to administer individualized client care, many with cognitive and other disabilities.
  • Collaborate with CART Program Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
