About The Position

The Sociology and Criminology Department at Assumption University seeks to hire 2-3 adjuncts for the spring 2027 semester to teach, in person, one section of SOC 121: Principles of Sociology; one section of SOC 122: Social Problems; one section of SOC 206: Sociology of Urban Life; one section of SOC 250: Public Sociology; and one section of SOC 216: Racial and Ethnic Relations. All classes meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. SOC 121 meets from 10:30-11:20am; SOC 122 from 12:30-1:20PM; SOC 206 1:30-2:20pm; and SOC 216 and SOC 250 meet from 11:30am-12:20pm. Courses are capped at 30 students. Class meetings for the spring 2027 semester run from January 19 to May 10, which includes the final exam week. Compensation is $4,000 per class. Adjuncts are welcomed as important contributors to the department and our students, and are provided with office space, email, voicemail, and support and resources needed for quality teaching. Successful candidates will be offered the opportunity to teach additional courses in Fall 2027 and in future semesters as needed.
