About The Position

The School of Kinesiology and Nutrition at The University of Southern Mississippi is accepting applications for the position of Adjunct Instructor. This is a semester-by-semester, temporary appointment based in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Multiple opportunities across a variety of courses are available and applicants should have expertise in one or more of the following areas: Strength and conditioning (CSCS certification)/Weight Training, Physical Education, Sport Coaching (experience coaching individual or multiple sports), Nutrition and Dietetics, Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Exercise Psychology, Sports Psychology, Fitness and Nutrition.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Nutrition, or a closely related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collegially with students, staff, and faculty from diverse backgrounds, programs, and colleges.
  • Expertise in the area for which they are applying.
  • Ability to be flexible.
  • Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, University policies and procedures.
  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for visa sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Nutrition, Dietetics, or a closely related field.
  • Teaching experience in K-12 physical education.
  • Coaching experience.
  • Experience with learning management systems such as Canvas.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate and/or graduate coursework in the School of Kinesiology and Nutrition.
  • Maintaining course shells in Canvas for each course.
  • Assessing student learning outcomes in assigned courses.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
