About The Position

Adjunct Faculty If you are interested in teaching in a college or university setting, it can be helpful to gain experience as an adjunct instructor. Many of our adjunct instructors hold a full-time career elsewhere, and choose to teach in our evening, weekend, and online programs so that they may have the opportunity to teach students. Independence Community College employs adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate level courses.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the chosen discipline, or a master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate credits in the concentration.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher education teaching experience.
  • Experience with the Canvas learning management platform.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and teach on-line classes as assigned.
  • Deliver quality instruction which prepares students for further education and/or the workplace.
  • Manage the teaching environment to serve all learners.
  • Provide regular and timely evaluation feedback to students.
  • Maintain student attendance records.
  • Submit mid-term and final grades.
  • Participate in institutional effectiveness initiatives including assessment and evaluation.
  • Demonstrate professionalism with faculty, administration, staff and students.
  • Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
