About The Position

Joliet Junior College (JJC) is seeking an Adjunct Instructor for Nursing Clinical to teach introductory and advanced classes in nursing practicum. This part-time, exempt position is part of the Nursing Education department within Academic Affairs and reports to the Department Chair. The role involves participating in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities. The instructor will be expected to teach online and/or blended courses, attend departmental meetings, and demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning. A thorough knowledge of nursing and healthcare trends is essential, as is a commitment to the community college mission. The position requires teaching during non-traditional hours (evenings and weekends) and at various clinical and campus sites. Other contractual obligations as outlined in the Joliet Junior College adjunct faculty contract must be met. The instructor will also perform other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Current Illinois Licensure as R.N.
  • Recent work experience in nursing.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community, displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the college’s core values of respect and inclusion, sustainability, integrity, collaboration, humor and well-being, innovation and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Teach classes in appropriate instructional area.
  • Participate in annual student and chair/coordinator evaluations.
  • Comply with departmental curriculum, grading standards, attendance policies, textbook choices, and assessments, and other established processes.
  • Attend classes regularly; return college reports, credentials, and other requested documentation in a timely manner; effectively communicate with appropriate staff and director.
  • Comply with all legal and ethical obligations, including FERPA, ADA, and other regulatory legislations. Communicate discrepancies to appropriate officials.
  • Commit to furthering the mission, goals, and core values of the college at all times.
  • Meet other contractual obligations as spelled out in the Joliet Junior College adjunct faculty contract.
  • Teach introductory and advanced classes in nursing practicum.
  • Participate in course development, assessment, accreditation, and planning activities.
  • Be willing to teach online and/or blended courses.
  • Participate in appropriate departmental meetings.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching and learning.
  • Possess and maintain a thorough knowledge of the subject matter necessary to the assigned course load and keep informed of current trends in the field of nursing and health care.
