About The Position

Adjunct Instructors are responsible for the facilitation of student learning and the on-going development of instructional strategies that promote student success. This role involves fostering student learning through diverse instructional strategies, assessing student progress, managing the classroom environment, participating in team efforts, engaging with the community and industry partners, supporting student success, and pursuing professional development. The position may also involve curriculum development.

Requirements

  • Associate degree or the degree/licensure level at which the adjunct instructor is teaching at a minimum.
  • Minimum of at least 4,000 hours occupational experience in a target job for the program being taught.
  • Experience with Ecology, Wildlife, Water Quality, Fisheries, Surveying, Forestry, Recreational Management, Conservation, or a related Natural Resources field required.
  • Ability to plan, organize, instruct, and facilitate quality education programs, including development of relevant curriculum.
  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Proficiency utilizing learning management system.
  • Strong verbal communication skills.
  • Adapt quickly to changing demands, assignments, and circumstances to meet student needs.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with various audiences.
  • Engage in continuous improvement in the quality of instruction by embracing innovative methodologies, techniques, and delivery methods.
  • Upon hire, must maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required by other agencies to maintain individual and program accreditation, if applicable.
  • Subject to FVTC's Motor Vehicle Records Check.
  • Prior to hire, a background check including criminal record history will be conducted.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years occupational experience preferred.
  • Teaching or training experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Foster student learning by developing appropriate instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs and support student engagement.
  • Integrate multiple delivery methodologies and instructional technologies (hybrid, in-person, virtual, online) to maximize student success.
  • Assess student learning and provide regular feedback.
  • Use data to measure quality outcomes and implement improvement strategies.
  • Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records.
  • Maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security.
  • Ensure opportunities for student/engagement evaluation.
  • Support the college by engaging with the department and staying current with internal and external changes and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain ongoing relationships with community, industry, and clinical partners.
  • Proactively promote the College and its programs.
  • Serve as an advocate for students and collaborate with Student Services staff to retain students, close achievement gaps, and help all students be successful.
  • Continually improve knowledge and skills in emerging trends, current occupational practices, and teaching through professional development activities and current employment in the field.
  • Maintain Faculty Quality Assurance System requirements and licensure required to maintain individual and program accreditation.
  • Develop curriculum and instructional materials that are competency-based, current, consistent with employer expectations, and aligned with the college policy on the level of required documentation.
  • Monitor student graduation requirements.
  • Serve as an “ambassador for agriculture” in a variety of community activities.
  • Prepare and submit required reports.
