The University of Portland Department of International Languages & Cultures is seeking applications for Adjunct Instructors to teach medical Spanish courses. This role involves teaching three in-person class contact hours per week per section, being available to meet with students, and participating in department orientation and trainings. The courses offered are SPN 380 Medical and Public Health Spanish, which covers vocabulary related to human physiology, pathology, public health in Latino communities, and professional Spanish skills, and SPN 480 Introduction to Medical Interpretation, a capstone course for the medical Spanish minor that focuses on sight translation and consecutive interpretation in healthcare settings, along with vocabulary development. Adjunct Instructors are employed on a semester-by-semester basis and may teach up to six credit hours per semester.
