About The Position

The Department of Linguistics at the University of North Texas (UNT) is seeking qualified individuals to teach undergraduate courses in Linguistics, focusing on introductory and general areas. This posting covers potential instruction for Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027. The department offers courses in core areas and methodologies of Linguistics, including phonetics and phonology, morphology, syntax, semantics, and pragmatics, as well as specialized fields like computational linguistics, historical linguistics, language documentation, language variation, language and law, and the politics of language. The goal is to inspire the next generation of linguists for both academic and professional success. UNT has a diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken, and the department welcomes candidates with experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Linguistics
• Prior experience teaching as an assistant or instructor of record.

Nice To Haves

• Experience teaching or assisting in courses such as "Language of Now" and "Semantics and Pragmatics".

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses in Linguistics in introductory and general areas.
• Potentially instruct in sociolinguistics, semantics, phonetics and phonology, language and law, and teaching English as a second language applications.
