About The Position

The University of Portland School of Education is seeking Adjunct Instructors to teach courses in Initial and Advanced Educator Licensing. This role involves instructing pre-service teachers in areas such as foundational literacy (science of reading), cognition and human development, and social/cultural foundations. For advanced licensing, instructors will teach reading endorsement courses, special education endorsement, and leadership development for principal licensure. The position requires three in-person class contact hours per week per section, availability for student meetings, and participation in department orientation and trainings. Adjunct Instructors are hired on a per-semester basis and may teach up to six credit hours per semester.

Requirements

  • Experience in teaching foundational literacy emphasizing the science of reading.
  • Experience in teaching cognition and human development (pre-adolescent and adolescent).
  • Experience in teaching social and cultural foundations.
  • Experience in teaching reading endorsement courses.
  • Experience in teaching special education endorsement.
  • Experience in teaching leadership development for principal and professional licensure.
  • Ability to provide three in-person class contact hours per week per section.
  • Ability to maintain regular availability to meet with students.
  • Willingness to participate in department orientation and trainings.
