About The Position

The Adjunct Dental Assisting Instructor provides instruction in classroom, laboratory, simulation, and/or clinical settings within the Dental Assisting Program. The instructor is responsible for facilitating student learning, evaluating student competency, promoting a safe learning environment, and supporting the program’s mission while maintaining compliance with CODA accreditation standards, institutional policies, OSHA regulations, and infection control guidelines.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited dental assisting program.
  • Clinical experience in general dentistry or a dental specialty.
  • Current CDA certification by DANB.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience using learning management systems (Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.).
  • Experience in CODA -accredited dental assisting education.
  • Experience teaching and evaluating psychomotor skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach or assist with all levels of courses within the Dental Assisting curriculum. This includes lectures, labs, and clinics.
  • Prepare instructional materials that support course and program learning outcomes.
  • Supervise and evaluate student knowledge, technical skills, and clinical competencies.
  • Provide timely feedback and be available for remediation in labs and all dental assisting courses.
  • Collaborate with departmental personnel in curriculum revisions/updates which reflect changing trends, information, and technologies and ensure compliance with the Standards of the Commission on Dental Accreditation of the American Dental Association, the Department of Community Colleges approved standards for the curriculum and the Criteria of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools.
  • Abide by OSHA regulations and policies, ensuring a safe learning environment.
  • Abide by college principals and standards.
