About The Position

Daemen University is seeking an Adjunct Income Tax Accounting Instructor for the Fall 2026 semester. The instructor will be responsible for teaching students how to prepare individual tax returns, including relevant supplemental schedules, and utilize tax software for electronic filing. The course also covers basic tax planning procedures and concludes with IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance training. Key topics include the tax formula, tax determination, gross income, exclusions, deductions and losses, itemized deductions, investor losses, and property transactions. The class is currently scheduled for Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:30 PM to 3:50 PM, with potential for rescheduling to later in the day in 80-minute blocks or a single 2-hour and 40-minute block on Tuesdays. The semester runs from Tuesday, September 8th to Thursday, December 17th.

Requirements

  • Experience in income tax accounting.
  • Ability to instruct students on tax preparation and planning.
  • Familiarity with tax software packages.
  • Knowledge of IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
