About The Position

This is a Part-Time Faculty Pool for available assignments during the academic year. The position involves teaching and supervising students using approved curriculum, syllabi, assessments, and instructional standards. It requires utilizing effective teaching methods, technology, and educational resources to support student learning. The role also includes assessing student performance, providing feedback, maintaining records, advising students, and supporting recruitment and retention efforts. Additionally, participation in curriculum development, program assessment, continuous improvement, and maintaining professional relationships are key aspects. The position requires adherence to Alvin College policies and procedures, completion of required reports and meetings, and participation in professional development.

Requirements

Master's or JD degree with 18 graduate semester hours in Political Science or Government from a regionally accredited college / university
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, as well as intermediate computer skills.
Must be familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the Internet.
Working knowledge of Blackboard course management system.
Working knowledge of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and the ability to use them responsibly, ethically, and in compliance with organizational guidelines.
Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within (30) days of hire.
Applicants with academic credentials from non-U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. "equivalency."
This position requires a criminal history and/or motor vehicle records check.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Political Science or Government from a regionally accredited college / university
At least one year of teaching experience at the college or university level.
Bilingual English/Spanish

Responsibilities

Teach and supervise students using approved curriculum, syllabi, assessments, and instructional standards.
Utilize effective teaching methods, technology, and educational resources to support student learning.
Assess student performance, provide timely feedback, and maintain accurate instructional records.
Advise and support students regarding academic progress and connect them with appropriate College resources.
Support student recruitment, retention, engagement, and overall success.
Participate in curriculum development, program assessment, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Maintain positive and professional relationships with students, colleagues, administration, and the community.
Complete required reports, forms, meetings, and institutional responsibilities in a timely manner.
Participate in professional development and maintain current knowledge of effective instructional practices.
Adhere to Alvin College policies and procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
