About The Position

University of Maryland Global Campus (UMGC) seeks adjunct faculty to teach on-site in Germany for the Healthcare Administration program. UMGC’s Health Administration curriculum includes concentration areas such as Introduction to Healthcare Administration, Information Technology for Healthcare Administration, The U.S. Healthcare System, The Business of Healthcare, and Long-Term Care Administration. UMGC is a mission-driven institution committed to adult learners, serving approximately 90,000 students globally, with a significant population of working adults, parents, minority students, and U.S. military personnel. The Adjunct Faculty Role at UMGC involves actively engaging students, guiding them in applying their learning, providing constructive feedback, demonstrating subject-matter expertise, and offering feedback on curriculum improvements. New faculty are required to complete an online new faculty orientation, FacDev 122.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Healthcare Management, Public Health, Health Admin, or related field from an accredited institution of higher learning
• Professional experience in Healthcare Management, Public Health, Health Admin, or related field
• Must attach conferred unofficial transcripts and/or credential evaluations for all graduate degrees.
• Must be a local applicant.
• Must have and be able to maintain own legal status in the country in which they apply to teach.

Nice To Haves

• Experience teaching adult learners online and in higher education is strongly preferred.
• Cover letter highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Actively engage students through frequent interaction that motivates them to succeed, and conveys a genuine energy and enthusiasm for their learning.
• Guide students in active collaboration and the application of their learning in problem- and project-based learning demonstrations.
• Provide rich and regular constructive feedback, utilizing rubrics effectively for the assessment of student work, and acknowledging student accomplishments.
• Demonstrate relevant and current subject-matter expertise, and help students connect concepts across their academic program.
• Provide feedback to your program chair on possible curricular improvements.
