About The Position

Colorado Mountain College is seeking adjunct faculty members to assist students in their learning process by utilizing all appropriate staff resources, materials, facilities, and educational technologies. Faculty members must be committed to facilitating learning throughout our communities. While teaching is the primary role, faculty are also encouraged to engage in scholarly endeavors and service activities. The college seeks innovative facilitators of learning who are passionate about extending academic opportunities to all students. Colorado Mountain College offers associate and bachelor’s degrees with a focus on positive classroom experiences and excellent outcomes for all students. Requirements

  • Qualified candidates must be credentialed to teach in the specific program or eligible to be credentialed.
  • A minimum of a master’s degree in a specific degree for the position being recruited or a Master’s Degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in a specifically related field.
  • Minimum of one-year full-time teaching experience, or the equivalent as an adjunct instructor.
  • An equivalent/applicable combination of education and experience to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position required.
  • Knowledge with pedagogy.
  • Teaching experience equating to two years.
  • Strong background in computers and technology.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • General office skills (filing, typing, answering the phone, customer oriented and attention to detail).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Willingness to learn.
  • Ability to research and effectively analyze data.
  • Ability to work independently towards established goals and deadlines.
  • Commitment to working effectively with students, employees, and community members of all backgrounds.
  • Must be a resident of the State of Colorado and perform all work duties within the state.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without the need for current or future sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Higher education teaching experience preferred.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) or conversational language abilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching course load as assigned.
  • Evaluating courses and assessing student learning.
  • Meeting established course, program, and learning outcomes.
  • Complying with guidelines and policies.
  • Maintaining office hours per established standards.
  • Developing rapport with students.
  • Assisting with and participating in advising, orientation, and registration activities.
  • Engaging in scholarly and creative activities that enhance discipline expertise and learning.
  • Participating in service activities such as campus and college committees, relevant projects, mentoring peers, assessment activities, program review, student organizations, recruiting, and retention.
  • Teaching classes as assigned by the designated supervisor.
  • Preparing appropriate lesson plans for each course in accordance with approved course objectives.
  • Developing and submitting course outlines and syllabi to the appropriate supervisor.
  • Assisting with the development of measurable course objectives and plans.
  • Developing a professional relationship with students and staff that encourages teacher/student communication.
  • Maintaining accurate course records of students and completing course forms as required.
  • Being available for student consultation.
  • Assisting in the recruitment of students, as appropriate.
  • Assisting in the evaluation of curriculum and instructional performance when agreed upon and appropriate.
  • Representing the college in a professional manner throughout the communities and college district by promoting a positive public image.
  • Engaging in professional development as required for credentialing.
