About The Position

The SAGE (Seasoned Adults Growing Educationally) Program is seeking an engaging and creative Music, Visual, and Performing Arts Instructor to teach non-credit enrichment courses for older adult learners. Topics may include music appreciation, vocal performance, choir, rhythm and percussion, beginner instrumental instruction, theater arts, acting, improvisation, movement and dance, and introductory photography (including camera basics, composition, lighting, and smartphone photography). The instructor will plan and deliver interactive, accessible instruction that encourages creative expression and participation in a welcoming and supportive environment. Instruction is designed for adults aged 60 and older and should accommodate varying levels of experience, comfort, and physical ability. The instructor is expected to remain current in their discipline, assess participation and learning engagement, and participate in curriculum development and professional development activities that support lifelong learning and creative exploration for older adults.

Requirements

• Associate’s degree in music, theater, education, or related field. Equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree depending on the course content/subject matter.
• Professional certification, licensure, registry, or other credentialing as required for the specific discipline or content area.
• Specialized experience in teaching or working with older adults (age 60+), including an understanding of age-related learning needs, cognitive and physical changes, and how these affect instructional strategies.
