The University of Pittsburgh School of Law is seeking an adjunct professor to teach the Public Policy Seminar (Law) and Policy-Making Seminar (GSPIA) in spring 2027. The courses are taught together to participating law students and students in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs (GSPIA) as part of the Law School’s Semester in D.C. Program. Teaching may take place in person at the university’s Washington, D.C. office or via Zoom, with synchronous access for law students in Pittsburgh. Students are required to write a policy research paper. The seminar examines federal law-making and public policy development through selected topics involving lobbying, the legislative process, judicial challenges to new laws, and administrative rule-making and enforcement. It aims to deepen students’ understanding through case studies of particular laws and policies, including relevant political dynamics, bureaucratic systems, and other real-world factors. Students study written materials and speak with Washington-based attorneys and other experts. Topics vary from year to year. Each course carries 3 credits. Salary is $2,500 per credit.
