The School of Professional Studies is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach Professional Communication for Life Sciences. This course is designed for students in the Biopharmaceutical Industry Fundamentals certificate and BS in Life Sciences programs, aiming to develop essential communication skills for biopharmaceutical and biomanufacturing settings. The course is offered online, synchronously, and semester-based, catering to part-time, adult undergraduate students. Weekly live sessions are conducted via Zoom from 6-9pm ET during the fall term. The ideal candidate will be adept at facilitating engaging, interactive online instruction and cultivating a supportive learning environment. The curriculum focuses on practical, career-ready communication skills for entry-level professionals, including producing written materials (emails, reports, SOPs), evaluating and responding to professional communications, and delivering presentations using PowerPoint. Key areas of emphasis include audience awareness, appropriate use of industry terminology, and the responsible application of AI tools in workplace communication. The course has been developed and piloted, and the selected instructor will deliver the existing curriculum while enhancing the learning experience through applied examples, guest speakers, practice, and feedback. Instruction prioritizes real-world scenarios, interactive exercises, and reflection to ensure immediate skill application in professional contexts.
