About The Position

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi. The position delivers assigned physics classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives, supports student learning through effective teaching strategies, and maintains accurate student records. The role is part-time and reports to the Department/Program Chair.

Requirements

• An earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in physics; or an earned master's or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester credit hours in physics-related courses.
• Applications must include a cover letter and an unofficial transcript.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Make optimal use of available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Supplement and alter, where appropriate, lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other requirements.
• Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful and productive ways that impact student learning and lead to a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
• Develop and implement teaching strategies focused on engaging students with their learning.
• Interact with students and co-workers in a professional and cooperative manner, complying with College policies, guidelines, and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
• Promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by students and employees and in which every individual feels respected and valued.
• Perform other duties logically associated with the position as assigned.
• Conduct responsibilities within the parameters of FERPA, other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
