Whether students are looking to start or advance their career as a teacher or administrator, GCU offers bachelor’s and master’s in education degrees in key areas including early childhood education, elementary education, and secondary education degrees, TESOL and special education. As an adjunct faculty member, you’ll provide program instruction in an online format, incorporating innovative teaching methodologies, cutting-edge technologies and other industry trends reflecting advancements in your discipline. Course: Data-Driven Literacy Assessment Reading/Literacy specialist candidates are immersed in K-12 literacy assessment for current teaching professionals. This course equips candidates with the skills to support teachers in developing, selecting, and interpreting assessment data to enhance student reading abilities through screening, intervention, remediation, and monitoring progress. With a focus on students requiring additional support, including English learners and those exhibiting signs of dyslexia, candidates will learn to communicate assessment results effectively to various audiences.

Requirements

  • Masters in Education or Curriculum and Instruction or Literacy or Reading or related field
  • a valid state teacher certification with an endorsement in reading or a reading specialist certificate
  • two areas of exceptional expertise
  • a minimum of five years of experience as a K-12 educator

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction or Instructional Leadership or Elementary Education or Doctorate in Learning and Teaching or Doctorate in Teaching Innovation or Doctorate in Literacy or Doctorate in Reading or related field

  • Facilitate weekly main discussion forums to engage students in the online classroom
  • Adhere to weekly grading requirements, deadlines, and timeframes
  • Respond to students’ questions and emails within the established timeframes
  • Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University
