About The Position

The School of Arts and Sciences seeks adjunct faculty to teach two sections of Health Psychology on its Boston campus during the Fall 2026 semester. The courses meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am-9:15am and 9:30am-10:45am. This course introduces students to the foundational theories and research in health psychology, with a focus on the biopsychosocial factors that influence health, behavior, and illness. Students will critically examine models of health, stress-related illness, behavior change theories, and the psychosocial aspects of symptom perception and management.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master’s degree in Health Sciences, Psychology, Public Health or related field
  • Minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college/university level
  • Commitment to undergraduate, graduate and/or professional education and student success
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively interact with a wide array of parties at all levels (students, faculty, administration/staff, alumni, and external constituents, including healthcare industry professionals)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching health care-focused students preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides students with an approved syllabus that includes course objectives and learning outcomes, teaching methodology, attendance policies in line with those of the School, texts and readings, assignments and deliverables, timelines and evaluation criteria.
  • Provides engaging assignments that demonstrate the real-world applications of concepts covered.
  • Uses the University’s learning management system to post syllabus, assignments and other materials and to communicate with students
  • Advises and assists students through office hours or scheduled appointments, by videoconference, phone or email, and through other University-approved mechanisms
  • Provides service including student mentoring, ongoing course development, and assessment
  • Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor
