About The Position

Thomas Jefferson University's College of Nursing is seeking a Clinical Adjunct Faculty member for its Graduate Programs. This role involves overseeing clinical experiences for graduate students, ensuring they meet expected performance standards and providing feedback. The faculty member will act as a liaison between the university and clinical preceptors, facilitating communication and monitoring student progress. This position is crucial for maintaining the quality of clinical education within the graduate nursing programs.

Responsibilities

  • Attend orientation session to the course and clinical teaching responsibilities.
  • Attend periodic clinical faculty meetings.
  • Perform clinical site visits as assigned. Initial visits will occur before mid-semester.
  • Interface with clinical preceptor as JCN’s representative and liaison, encouraging communication and clinical professional relationships between clinical preceptor and the Jefferson College of Nursing.
  • Provide a narrative summary of site visits, to course faculty and Senior Associate Dean, with important/salient points about the student’s progress in clinical and the preceptor’s impression of the student.
  • Provide weekly evaluative feedback to students on clinical logs.
  • Notify course faculty when students not meeting expected clinical performance.
  • Place students in danger of failing on clinical jeopardy in conjunction with JCN course faculty and create plans for remediation with students.
  • Notify the Senior Associate Dean and course faculty of any problems or concerns with the clinical preceptor and/or clinical site.
  • Maintain ongoing communications with Senior Associate Dean and course faculty.
  • Facilitate completion of student evaluations by clinical preceptors.
