About The Position

Adjunct Faculty are hired each semester on an as-needed basis. They create a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provide effective instruction and assessment within the framework of common syllabi provided. The role delivers assigned French classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives, supports student learning, and maintains a safe, quality educational environment. All responsibilities must be conducted in compliance with FERPA, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

Requirements

• Meet one of the French discipline qualifications: an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in French language or French literature; an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any discipline with 18 graduate semester hours in French language or literature courses; or native French-speaker status with a master’s degree and the equivalent of two years of secondary or post-secondary teaching experience in French or a related area, such as linguistics or another language.
• Demonstrate the ability to promote an environment in which people from the broad backgrounds represented by students and employees feel respected and valued.
• Submit a cover letter and unofficial transcript.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate student learning by delivering assigned classes in accordance with College policy and course objectives.
• Use available technology to enhance instructional methods.
• Supplement or alter lesson plans, assignments, tests, and materials where appropriate.
• Maintain accurate student records, grades, and other required documentation.
• Engage with students proactively and regularly in meaningful, productive ways that support learning and a positive experience with Ivy Tech Community College.
• Develop and implement teaching strategies focused on engaging students in their learning.
• Interact with students and co-workers professionally and cooperatively, in compliance with College policies, guidelines, and expectations.
• Maintain a safe, quality educational environment.
• Promote an environment in which people from the broad backgrounds represented by students and employees feel respected and valued.
• Perform other duties logically associated with the position as assigned.
• Conduct responsibilities in accordance with FERPA, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.
