Teach Applied Investing to the Next Generation of Finance Leaders We are seeking a practitioner-oriented Ph.D. in finance to teach an exciting undergraduate course built around real investment data, hands-on Excel analysis, and live market applications. Students will work with Bloomberg and FactSet on projects spanning crypto returns, housing valuation, FX carry trades, momentum strategies, ETF replication, and portfolio construction. This is a chance to bring real-world investing into the classroom and help students turn financial theory into practical investment and risk-management decisions. The School of Management at the University of San Francisco invites applications for part-time adjunct faculty with expertise in finance and investments. Under the direction of the Dean and Associate Deans, the Adjunct Faculty Member will teach an undergraduate-level course in finance and investments in the School of Management Business Administration program. Students will get hands-on experience with real financial data, learn to use Excel for investing problems, and gain valuable knowledge of applied investing. The course centers around the Benjamin Franklin quote, “Tell me and I forget, teach me and I remember, and involve me and I learn.” The class will be driven by many small projects involving using Bloomberg and FactSet to acquire real financial data and then apply it to solve problems, develop insights, and distill learnings to develop investment and risk management decisions. The course will also involve presenting results in class in simulated professional settings. Projects will include explaining crypto asset returns, building models that assess how expensive is the us housing market and housing markets in various cities, expressing direct versus synthetic carry trades in the foreign exchange markets, building an efficient frontier with a collection of actual asset classes, testing and developing momentum-trading strategies, and ETF Replication with Derivatives and analysis of ETFs and their managements strategies.
