Adjunct Faculty - English Instructor (Evergreen)
About The Position
The Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at DigiPen Institute of Technology is seeking applicants for potential future positions of Adjunct Faculty to teach English courses across various degree programs. Adjunct positions are assessed each semester, and qualified applicants will be contacted when needs arise. The department faculty have extensive humanities backgrounds and an interest in exploring the current media landscape. Courses are often tailored to the interests of DigiPen students, with adjuncts typically teaching composition and storytelling, and potentially other courses within their area of expertise. This role involves helping students develop essential skills for their chosen fields. Accepted candidates will be added to a pool of pre-approved adjuncts, from which the department hires on an as-needed basis each semester. This is an ongoing posting.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree or higher in English, or related field.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- College level teaching experience.
- Comfortable with technology.
- Ability to accommodate a wide variety of learning styles, special needs, etc.
- Knowledge of Word, PowerPoint, Moodle, and MS Teams.
Nice To Haves
- Experience teaching composition or storytelling courses.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in accordance with departmental policies and procedures.
- Prepare and submit timely grade reports and other reports on student performance in the Learning Management System.
- Demonstrate evidence of teaching experience that supports a diverse student body and individuals from a variety of backgrounds and experiences.
- Organize class material, activities, and assignments.
- Relate assessments to learning outcomes.
- Manage Student Teaching Assistants, supervising their time cards and reviewing their weekly hours, if required.
- Provide input on, create, and improve course materials.
- Offer weekly office hours.
- Conduct in-person teaching, with online classes when necessary.
