About The Position
The Department of English at Calvin University invites applications for part-time instruction in the area of first-year writing. English 101 is a four-credit course, taught fully in-person and during the day. The appointment will be for the Fall 2026 semester, beginning August 31, 2026. A commitment to the Christian faith is essential. Candidates are expected to affirm the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed. Requirements
- Commitment to the Christian faith.
- Affirmation of the Apostle’s Creed, the Nicene Creed, and the Athanasian Creed.
- Master’s degree or above in English, or 18 graduate-level English credit hours if degree is in an adjacent field.
- College teaching experience.
- Demonstrated ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods and instructional technology.
Nice To Haves
- Five or more years of experience teaching first-year writing.
