About The Position

Marymount University is seeking qualified individuals to teach Engineering lectures and laboratories, specifically in Mechanical and Biomedical engineering. Courses may include calculus-based physics, statics, dynamics, CAD design, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics. Adjunct faculty are professionals responsible for providing a quality learning experience on a semester basis, reporting to a dean, chair, or director. They perform instruction-related duties in accordance with university mission, policies, and procedures, acting as teachers and facilitators of learning for specific courses. The university is a mission-driven Catholic institution committed to academic excellence, innovation, and community engagement, located in Arlington, Virginia.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Physics, Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the field of teaching required
  • Demonstrated expertise or professional experience in the subject area
  • Strong communication and instructional skills
  • Commitment to inclusive excellence and student success

Nice To Haves

  • Prior college-level teaching experience
  • Experience with learning management systems and online teaching platforms
  • Experience working with diverse and first-generation student populations

Responsibilities

  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in assigned discipline
  • Prepare and deliver engaging, student-centered instruction (in-person, hybrid, or online as assigned)
  • Develop syllabi and course materials aligned with departmental standards
  • Assess student performance and provide timely feedback
  • Maintain regular communication with students and department leadership
  • Uphold university academic policies and integrity standards
