About The Position

The Creative Writing Program at Roger Williams University seeks applicants for the 2026-27 academic year to teach CW110 Narrative in Prose. This introductory course is designed for creative writing majors and minors, as well as non-majors fulfilling the university's general-education Creative Arts requirement. The course focuses on guiding students through a critical study of narrative structure and design in fiction and nonfiction, covering elements such as character development, point of view, tone, setting, plotting, and time management.

Requirements

  • Hold a graduate degree in creative writing, or a related field with a record of creative work publication.
  • Demonstrate an equivalent combination of education and experience specifically preparing the candidate for success in the position (at the University's discretion).

Responsibilities

  • Teach CW110 Narrative in Prose, an introductory creative writing course.
  • Guide students in a critical study of narrative structure and design in fiction and nonfiction.
