Community Education is seeking innovative and engaging instructors to develop curriculum and teach classes for gifted middle school students as part of our growing youth program. This CLC initiative is dedicated to inspiring intellectual, academic, and social-emotional growth through challenging and stimulating courses offered across all CLC campuses and extension sites. We are especially interested in professionals and educators with expertise in areas such as STEM, the arts, humanities, and other creative or advanced subjects that can stretch the minds of young learners. Requirements

• Experience teaching middle school students, including cluster grouping, pull-out, and/or full-time gifted class structures.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for advanced-level students focused on content acceleration, rigor, depth/complexity, and higher-order thinking skills .
• Strong instructional and curriculum design skills including curriculum compacting, tiering assignments, and project-based learning.
• Clear background check, along with substantiated subject-matter expertise , effective communication skills, and a commitment to inclusive, learner-centered instruction.
• Documented record of successfully supporting learners in understanding and mastering new ideas and skills.
• Competency and/or commitment to learn and use technologies commonly used in instruction at CLC: Microsoft Outlook for all email communications , additional Microsoft applications, common classroom projection technology, Canvas Learning Management System , enrollment software, etc.
• Ability to work effectively and constructively with persons of diverse cultures, gender identities, language groups, and abilities; demonstrate sensitivity to and ability to work with the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, and staff, including those with disabilities; establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.

Nice To Haves

• Gifted Endorsement, Degree in Gifted Education or equivalent Specialized Training Coursework .
• Proven competency in serving gifted and talented students' social and emotional needs including emotional intensities/empathy, peer relationship challenges, and/or the need for meaning/purpose and skilled in response-techniques to gifted and talented students’ intellectual and development needs, such as twice-exceptional, asynchronous development, and/or perfectionism.

Responsibilities

• Develop and teach in the assigned subject(s) and level(s) in new or existing programs.
• Fulfill administrative requirements, meet established deadlines and complete required training.
• Stay current in compliance training, including compliance under Title IX “Responsible Employee” and, if applicable, Clery Act Campus Security Authority as a condition of employment.
• Agree to and follow appropriate College and department policies and procedures.
