This position involves teaching students effectively in assigned classes and maintaining office hours for student consultation. The role requires participation in the evaluation of the instructional process, using innovative strategies for continuous learning improvement, and contributing to the development and support of their discipline. Responsibilities include recommending books and materials, revising curricula, and recommending teaching assignments. The faculty member will maintain accurate course records, perform professional activities as agreed upon with the division dean, and collaborate with colleagues. They will utilize knowledge of diverse communities and learning styles in instruction, participate in student advising and registration, and employ technology for learning, data access, record maintenance, report generation, and communication. The position requires meeting professional assignments according to the System’s calendar and contractual obligations, complying with Dallas College board policies, state and federal policy, and the student code of conduct. Commitment to the college mission and goals is demonstrated through participation in planning division objectives and budget requests. The role includes serving on and attending college committees, participating in campus commencement exercises and other required college meetings and activities, and engaging in their own performance appraisal. The faculty member will demonstrate the ability to work effectively with persons from diverse backgrounds, potentially work with student clubs and/or organizations, and exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills to support effective interaction with various stakeholders. Promoting the college in the community through marketing activities and participating in professional development activities, including completing required Dallas College Professional Development training hours per academic year, are also key aspects of the role.
