About The Position

Adjunct Faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions hired each semester on an as-needed basis. The adjunct faculty member creates a learning environment that helps students reach their goals and provides effective instruction and assessment using common syllabi provided by the School. This posting remains open continuously to build a pool of qualified candidates for future openings. Applicants will be contacted only if there is an actual need to fill the position, or if they do not meet the minimum requirements.

A qualified biology faculty member must meet one of two discipline standards: hold an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in a biological science, or hold an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in biology-related courses.

Requirements

• Strong working knowledge of current technologies appropriate to the area of instruction.
• An earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in a biological science; or an earned master’s or higher degree from a regionally accredited institution in any field with 18 graduate semester hours in biology-related courses.

Responsibilities

• Perform instructional duties necessary to teach and facilitate student learning in assigned classes.
• Provide students with a syllabus appropriate to the course and follow its content and requirements.
• Maintain student attendance and grading records according to College policy and the Adjunct Handbook.
• Submit requested information within established timelines.
• Be available outside scheduled class time to answer questions and provide assistance to students.
• Address student concerns and consult with the program coordinator when necessary to resolve issues.
• Meet all scheduled classes for contracted courses.
• Use appropriate technology, such as Canvas and PowerPoint.
• Notify the program or department chair in the event of an emergency absence.
