About The Position

The adjunct faculty position is responsible for delivering high-quality courses that support the institution’s mission and strategic goals. Teaching assignments are offered on an as-needed basis, depending on class size and semester availability. This role requires active engagement in the classroom, timely communication, and completion of assigned teaching training modules and tasks. This is an onsite position in Minnesota. Currently hiring for Spring 2027: Story Structure; Directing the Actor for Camera; Fall 2027: Intro to Film.

Requirements

  • MFA or MA (and/or significant relevant professional experience) in Film or Media or related field.
  • Experience with directing, screenwriting, film history and theory or directing the actor for camera.
  • Commitment to integrating a Christian worldview into a classroom setting
  • Maintain a growing, personal relationship with Jesus Christ, reflect His character in all interactions, and faithfully uphold and embrace Northwestern’s mission, Doctrinal Statement and Declaration of Christian Community.
  • Must pass initial and ongoing background checks as a condition of employment.
  • Authorized to work for any employer in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating Christian worldview into a classroom setting
  • Previous teaching experience on the subject matter at the undergraduate or graduate level, or in non-academic settings.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality instruction in assigned courses aligned with the institution’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Maintain a consistent, active and positive presence in the classroom, facilitating course content and engaging with students.
  • Monitor and participate in class discussions to promote interaction and learning.
  • Respond promptly to student inquiries and concerns, fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Grade assignments and provide feedback in a timely manner; complete required teaching training modules.
  • Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
  • Actively partner with the University to disciple students as they grow intellectually and spiritually, and with Northwestern Media to lead people to Christ and nurture believers to maturity in their faith.
