About The Position

StrataTech Education Group focuses on the acquisition, growth and development of specialized career education schools, particularly skilled-trade programs designed to address the nation’s growing infrastructure needs. The company’s Tulsa Welding School subsidiary was founded in 1949 with campuses in Tulsa, Okla., Jacksonville, Fla., Houston, and Dallas (Irving) Texas. The Refrigeration School, Inc (RSI) was founded in Phoenix, Arizona in 1965. At StrataTech, we are zealous advocates of positive and sustainable life change through skilled trades education. We are laser focused on student success by focusing on organizational and operational improvements, a dedication to excellence in training programs, innovation and technology aligning industry transformations, and a culture built on human compassion, care, and service. The Electrical Craft Instructor delivers instructor-led training courses developed for the client's Electrical Craft Upskilling initiative. This is a contract, project-based role. Instructors are assigned to cohort-based delivery at client-designated project sites over 3–4 week cycles, working with cohorts of 8–12 journeyman-level electricians. Learners are experienced tradespeople, not entry-level students. This role demands technical credibility in the field, the ability to facilitate hands-on lab work at a high professional standard, and the judgment to engage journeymen as peers while maintaining delivery structure and assessment rigor. Technical depth and field credibility are the baseline.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of direct field experience in commercial or industrial electrical construction, maintenance, or installation
  • Hands-on proficiency in at least two of the three course track areas: LV cable termination and cabinet work, LV motor/equipment wiring, or MV cable termination and acceptance testing
  • Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA 1910.269 electrical safety requirements; not just conceptual familiarity. Field-applied knowledge is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to safely operate insulation resistance testers, CAT-rated multimeters, crimping tools (hydraulic, manual, and battery-powered), and torque tools to manufacturer specifications
  • Ability to interpret and work from one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, control schematics, and cabinet layout drawings
  • Strong communication skills; ability to engage a journeyman-level adult audience with field credibility and without condescension
  • Ability to pass client site access, background, and safety qualification requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman Electrician card or equivalent credential
  • Prior experience delivering technical training, mentoring apprentices, or serving as a lead craft in a training role
  • NFPA 70E Qualified Electrical Worker (QEW) certification or formal arc flash training
  • NCCER Electrical certification
  • Experience with MV cable termination (heat shrink, cold shrink, or taped systems; strongly preferred for MV course track assignments)
  • Familiarity with acceptance testing procedures per NETA standards
  • Experience on large-scale EPC or industrial construction project sites

Responsibilities

  • Deliver all assigned course modules in strict accordance with approved StrataSKILLS curriculum aligned to NEC 2023, NFPA 70E 2024, OSHA 1910.269, and IEEE 1584
  • Facilitate hands-on lab activities with absolute emphasis on safety, code compliance, and professional-level skill application
  • Manage classroom pacing, journeyman engagement, and daily session structure across the full cohort cycle
  • Administer and evaluate written knowledge checks, practical skills assessments, and the final skills assessment for each course
  • Maintain a safe, professional, and technically rigorous learning environment throughout each cohort
  • Set up and prepare all lab stations, tools, and training aids before each session; no student should wait on instructor setup
  • Demonstrate all lab activities before students attempt them; model the safety and quality standards expected of a journeyman on a client job site
  • For LV courses: execute cable preparation, crimping, cabinet layout, control wiring, and documentation labs with confidence
  • For MV course: execute cable sheath removal, insulation removal, heat shrink and cold shrink termination installation, lug selection and torquing, and acceptance testing procedures
  • Operate meggers, HiPot testers, and other test equipment used in MV acceptance and maintenance testing
  • Track and record daily attendance, participation, and assessment results for every student in the cohort
  • Complete required program documentation and submit to the Lead Instructor within 24 hours of each session
  • Document any safety incidents, student conduct issues, equipment failures, or curriculum gaps for the Lead Instructor's attention
  • Support certificate of completion processing for students who meet passing criteria
  • Follow all client site safety requirements, including site-specific safety briefings, PPE requirements, and access protocols
  • Inspect all training aids, tools, and lab equipment for safety and functionality before each use
  • Return all materials and equipment to proper storage at the close of each session; maintain lab organization consistent with a client jobsite standard
  • Communicate any site access issues, facility concerns, or equipment shortfalls to the Lead Instructor immediately
  • Communicate cohort status and any delivery or logistics concerns to the Lead Instructor on a daily basis during active cohorts
  • Provide written feedback on curriculum effectiveness, lab sequencing, and equipment adequacy following each cohort
  • Participate in pre-deployment instructor calibration sessions and any required technical orientation before cohort launch
  • Comfortable with delivering coaching and suggesting best practices to adult learners
