About The Position

The Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) School of Nursing is seeking qualified Master’s prepared registered nurses to join our team as Adjunct Clinical Faculty. These positions are primarily face-to-face clinical teaching opportunities in a variety of healthcare settings and are ideal for nurses who are passionate about mentoring the next generation of professional nurses. Adjunct Clinical Faculty are responsible for supervising and evaluating nursing students during direct patient care experiences. This position is an in-person adjunct faculty appointment that provides instruction and supervision at assigned clinical partner sites throughout the region, including Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry, and Glades counties. Travel between clinical locations may be required. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis to establish a qualified adjunct faculty pool. Placement in the adjunct faculty pool does not guarantee an appointment or teaching assignment. Requirements

  • Graduate degree in Nursing with an area of specialization in Nursing from a nationally-accredited nursing program and regionally accredited Institution or equivalent accreditation.
  • BSN degree in Nursing from a nationally-accredited nursing program and regionally accredited Institution or equivalent accreditation.
  • Minimum of three years of nursing practice experience.
  • Current unrestricted RN; or APRN licensure or eligibility for RN or APRN licensure in the state of Florida.
  • Current BLS certification for healthcare providers or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated expertise in nursing knowledge and clinical practice.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills using web-based applications and Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of and commitment to ANA Code of Ethics for Nursing, BSN Essentials, and other regulatory documents.
  • Actively collaborates both within and outside the University in the development and delivery of instruction resulting in improved student learning.
  • Competence in the use of technology in teaching and distance learning.

Nice To Haves

  • Five or more years of nursing practice experience.
  • Nurse Educator Certification.
  • Experience teaching in the clinical setting.
  • Expertise in medical/surgical, community and public health, child, obstetrics, or mental health nursing.
  • Certification or experience in high fidelity simulation.
  • Experience with the development and delivery of on-line coursework.

Responsibilities

  • Teach theory, laboratory, or clinical courses in the BSN Program.
  • Provide professional mentoring to students.
  • Contribute to course and/or curriculum development.
  • Function as an effective, active, and collegial team member.
  • Supervising and evaluating nursing students during direct patient care experiences.
